Virtual host settings

Enhancement in Flash Media Streaming Server and Flash Media Interactive Server; requires Flash

Player 6 or later.

Setting up your server with virtual hosts allows you to maintain distinct separation between

hostingaccountsontheserverforFlashMediaServer.Eachvirtualhostdirectoryontheserver

contains its own Vhost.xml le. e Vhost.x ml conguration le denes settings for an

individual virtual host. ese settings include aliases for the virtual host, the location of the

virtual host’s application directory, limits on the resources the virtual host can use, and other

parameters.

Eachvirtualhostmusthaveitsowndirectoryinsidetheadaptordirectory.enameofthe

directory must be the actual name of the virtual host, such as streaming.adobe.com.Each

addition to_defaultVHost_.)

Application settings

Player 6 or later.

e Application.x mllecontainsthesettingsforFlashMediaInteractiveServerapplica-

tions. ese include settings such as: the size of the Server-Side Media ActionScript runtime

engine, the location at which streams and shared objects are stored, default AMF encoding, and

bandwidth limitations.

e Application.xml le in the virtual host directory congures the default settings for all

applicationswithinthatvirtualhost.Ifyouwanttohavedierentsettingsforaparticular

directory(/ap plications/ap p _ na m e)andeditittoincludeyourcustomsettings.

Inmostcases,thesettingsinApplication.xml le in the specic application directory

override settings in the Application.x ml le in the virtual host directory, but not always.
