3D transformations

Bringing perspective and dimension to your design can add an element of excitement and

fun to any project. But until now, the ability to create 3D motion was available only to

expert users via ActionScript or other sophisticated tools. Now, with Flash CS4, you can

animate 2D objects through 3D space with new easy-to-use 3D transformation tools, greatly

extending creative possibilities. Built for inexperienced and advanced users alike, the 3D

transformation tools make motion eects available to everyone.

Specically, Flash CS4 features two new tools for applying 3D eects:

• e3DTranslationtoolprovidesvisuallyintuitivex-,y-,andz-axisobjectmanipulation.

• e3DRotationtoolallowsyoutospinandtwirlyourartwithina3Dspace.

You can apply local or global rotation to move an object within relationship to itself or to

the stage and ne-tune perspectives with complete control over vanishing-point location

and perspective angle. A global vanishing point enables you to dene the location at which

your animation disappears in the distance.

Usetheintuitive3DTranslationtool

to quickly and easily position any symbol

in3Dspace.

Tabbed documents make it easy to

jumpbetweenopenles.

A single application frame provides a

more ecient workspace and

prevents documents from becoming

hidden beneath panels.

The Properties panel has been

redesigned in a more ecient vertical

format. Positioned on the side, it

allows more space for the Stage.

Workspacesallowuserstoquickly

switch user interface layouts to better

focusonspecictasks.

The default position of the

Timeline is now at the

bottom of the screen,

putting focus on the Stage

and matching the layout of

AfterEects.

The Stage now takes center

stage.Renderinghasalso

been improved, which

translates to less reliance on

theTestMoviecommand.

Accordion sections make it

possible for users to choose

desired information.

Scrubby text allows users to

simply click and drag on

values to edit their settings,

justasinPhotoshopand

AfterEects.

Positioned on the far right by

default, the Tools panel is
